Manufacturer recall #F0U, dealership replaced catalytic converter but their mechanic damaged the fuel sensor that screws into it. Now the engine warning light stays on, traction control is disabled. I have been back to the dealership 3 times but they refuse to make repairs. The manager is abusive.
The contact owns a 2010 Toyota Tacoma. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 14V604000 (suspension, fuel propulsion system); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.
Pulling out into traffic the vehicle continued to accelerate rapidly on its own. Slammed on the brakes, stopped put car in neutral, engine continued to rev to past the redline, put car in park, stopped engine.
I just found my truck is subject to recall number: E12. The safety risk: States possible punctured fuel tank and possible fuel leak could result in fire. The recall status: States "remedy not yet available". this is unacceptable in my mind. Replacing a leaf spring assembly is not that complicated. I hope NHTSA will encourage Toyota to react quickly to this design failure. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
