The contact owns a 2010 Toyota Tacoma. While driving 55 mph, an unknown humming sound emitted from the front of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician diagnosed that the driveshaft needed to be repaired. No repairs were made to the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 70,000.
The contact owns a 2010 Toyota Tacoma. The contact stated that when the vehicle was being brought to a stop, there was a thump that came from the drive shaft. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was informed that the slip joint and the drive shaft bearing support joint were causing the failure. The dealer also stated that this was a known failure, but the manufacturer had not found a correction to the failure. The manufacturer informed the contact that the slip joint should not come apart, but it could cause the drive shaft to fail and need to be replaced.
