The contact owns a 2009 Toyota Tacoma. The contact stated that when the brake pedal was depressed, there was an abnormal noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. The contact received a recall notification for NHTSA campaign number: 14V604000 (suspension) however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 116,000.
The contact owns a 2009 Toyota Tacoma. The contact heard a rattling noise while driving. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic who inspected the vehicle and stated the failure was within the rear axle right leaf spring near the gas line which was corroded and had broke in half. The manufacturer stated the failure was not a recall for the 2009 Tacoma and would not assist with the repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current miles were 78,700.
When my 2009 Tacoma reached about 18,500 miles the rear spring started to squeak. You can hear it even getting in & out of the vehicle. If you put much weight in the back it will squat & lift the front end up. It even does poorly pulling an empty trailer. This is my 10th + Toyota & I am very disappointed that this type of problem pops up & Toyota won't do anything about it. I may just by a GMC next time.
I have a 2009 toytoa Tacoma with 26,000 miles, and the leaf suspension is failing. There are audible groans and creaks just getting in and out of the car, or if I put in loads as light as 50 pounds. Further, the ride has become worse over bumps. Toyota has issued tsbs for this issue in earlier models, but they have not addressed the problem, and there isn't a tsb for 2009.
The rear springs started squeaking about 19,000 miles. When pulling a trailer vehicle sways badly. With 600 lbs of weight in bed, vehicle sits really low.

The truck bottoms out at about half the payload capacity of 1,295 pounds. A 652lb atv caused the truck to bottom out. There is a tsb out for 2005-2008 models and Toyota claims it has remedied the problem but the same exact parts are still in use on the 2009 models.
