I brought my 09 Tacoma to a local Toyota dealership service on 6/4/15. They performed a regular service and said they would check leaf springs subject to manufacturer's recall. They found one of the springs broken and decided to replace both springs covered under the manufacturer's safety recall. They estimated my truck would be ready in 4 days.
On 6/9/15 they informed me that the leaf springs were on back order and they were at the mercy of Toyota parts distribution system. They can't tell me when they will get replacement leaf spring parts. The service guy said it could be a week or two or three weeks?
I assume the local dealer is getting paid by Toyota to perform warranty service. And even though the dealership has set me up with a rental vehicle while my truck is under warranty repair (IMPOUNDED is another way to describe it) I have to conclude that the only inconvenienced party in this situation is me.
There must be other Tacoma owners out there that are experiencing similar headaches. Or maybe the pain is lower down in the anatomy... somewhere near where Toyota's recall parts distribution system operates.
I hear those Tacoma recall blues back again.
