Heat from headlight bulbs cracks the cover of lights. I purchased the car from Toyota in 2009. Since then, I've had to change my headlights 5 times. I previously took the car to various dealers for an opinion and was told this occurs with this model "Tacoma". The lights begin showing a symptom of looking foggy, then a stain appears in the center of the plastic that covers the complete light, then a crack appears a short time after, then they look like they will burn out. At that point, I get it fixed because who can afford doing this often?
Sometimes I wonder if I was sold a bad car or if Toyota has a defect in making their headlights. Last year I had a friend help me replace the complete lights because it was getting pricey, they lasted one year and now they started fogging again.
