From the time i bought my 2008 Tacoma i noticed that the idle would not slow down to a safe speed after starting the engine from cold. On starting the engine the rpm would go up to about 1400 , then after a few seconds would drop only to around 1200 rpm. I have waited for over 5 minutes for it to slow down more but it does not. I always have to start to drive at this rpm making it very unsafe because i have to hold the brake on firmly or the truck will take off on me.I tested my truck once, i put it into drive and took my foot off the brake, my Tacoma drove me out of my driveway without me even touching the accelerator. I have taken this to toyota and they said that " that is the way it is man, we cant do anything". I explained what was the problem to them and was basically told that was the way they all were. I dont think so. If all new Tacomas run like this im sure more people would complain. My local Toyota dealer pleads ignorance on this one.
