I have a 2007 Toyota Tacoma that has involuntary acceleration problems ,NOT floor mat related.
The first time it happened was about 6mo. after I bought it. I was on the freeway going 70mph, it started going faster, I braked a few times, nothing happened, so held the brake down, still nothing. My speedometer was up to 90mph & I was coming up on a semi. I finally decided to put it in neutral rather than shut it off, it sounded like it could blow up, It scared me so much ,all I could do after I got to the shoulder & shut the motor off, was shake & thank god to be alive.I sat there for about 15 min. before I was able to make myself start it & drive home.
This has happened 3 other times. I complained to Toyota ,they checked my truck ,said nothing was wrong with it and the 07 tacoma is not on the recall list for involuntary acceleration 'and treated me like I don't know what I'm talking about & that it was caused by the floor mat.
I complained to Toyota again, they tried to blow me off again, then asked me to leave my truck so they could have their expert toyota problem solver look at it. Again they said they did not find any problems with it and its not on the recall list for that problem.
I know I'm not the only one with an 07 Tacoma that does that ,and this is a dangerous problem.
I hope Toyota will admit & fix this problem soon!!
