I've been having a problem with the fan rubbing on bottom of the shroud for years mostly only in reverse. About a year ago I went to the local off road park. After hitting some practice trails It was doing it all the time. I was able to drive it home, it wasn't as bad as when it first started but came on sporadically when I drove over a transition at a freeway bridge. When I got home I opened the hood and the motor was leaning over to the driver side. It had dropped more than an inch. I took it to Hamer Toyota and they told me to take it to a body shop or a frame shop and the frame was somehow pushed up causing the fan to rub on the shroud. I started looking around the internet and found out the motor mounts on the 2005 and 2006 tacoma could collapse into the frame. Yep it sure was. I put a block of wood under the motor and put a floor jack under it, that pushed the motor up to be level. I found a guy in Norco, who makes a gusset kit. It was real nice laser cut heavy steel with perfect welds. It wrapped around the bottom of the frame and up the side. Its a two piece kit and I received it in two days. I went to a good off road guy and he welded it into place. No problems so far. There are big problems with these Toyota truck frames. Toyota is not acknowledging any problems exist. Good Luck with yours
