rusting

In June 2018 I started to notice some white film on the hood of my 2005 Toyota Tacoma and though i need to wash it off. After washing it and letting it dry the film came back. After researching the issue, I realized that it was the clear-coat failing. With in two weeks there were areas of rust on the roof and it just kept getting worse. I reported the issue to Toyota with pictures of the hood, roof, and the area's directly adjacent to the hood and roof to show the failing clear-coat and paint.

I got a call back the very next day and the lady was very nice and caring. Then she put me on hold to see if Toyota had any programs or recall on the paint for this year. At that point she was no longer nice and her tone changed as she told me "Toyota Has No Programs or Recalls for this truck and will be doing NOTHING to help you". Then she said thank you for calling and would you be willing to stay on the line for a survey. I said Hell Yes and gave them the lowest score possible in all categories.

The next week i went to the Insurance Company to clam Comprehensive damage and they told me that was not covered under Comprehensive Damage as it is just wear and tear.

This is crap work on the first year of the second generation Tacoma's and it is now just coming to light and Toyota is choosing to ignore it. they knew this was going to happen because someone cut a corner to save a few dollars in production. Three of my coworkers have Toyota Tacoma's from 2000 and earlier and none of their paint is flaking or rusting. It may be faded a little but, there is no flaking or chipping.

Over all I am just disappointed in a company that is known for producing such a great product. My family has owned 16 Toyota's and this is by far the worst case of Toyota turning their back on their customer I have seen.
