This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Vehicle frame rusted to the point where it will be unsafe to drive soon. Vehicle is from a "heavy road salt use" state, but has had very limited exposure to salt during the winter months. Most times the frame has been rinsed with clean water after exposure to salt. Toyota's voluntary repair period has expired, yet they acknowledge a manufacturing defect. In addition there is a recall for a similar item related to the spare tire carrier on the same vehicle.
I was informed in December of 2012 of a recall on my 2004 Tacoma where the spare tire holder could rust and fall off. As of 4/24/2013 I still haven't been notified of what Toyota, S plan to fix this problem is. What can I do?
