The contact owns a 1995 Toyota Tacoma. The contact stated that the air bag light continuously flashed while the vehicle was unoccupied. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the cable sub-assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The contact received another recall notification regarding the leaf spring possibly rusting and puncturing the fuel tank; however, the parts were not available for the repair. The NHTSA campaign number was unavailable. The failure mileage was unknown....updated 02/19/16
Struck deer at 60mph-solid causing $65000 in damage, airbag did not deploy, struck gaurd rail at 40mph drivers front corner airbag did not deploy. Squeaking coming from rear or vehicle especially over speed bumps, leaf springs?. factory differential failed at 65000miles, dealer refused to consider warranty, replaced with used with 16000 miles, it failed at 127000miles. Fact. Trans 2cd gear syncro failed at 124000 mi. Replaced with '96 unit 16000mi. 3rd gear syncro is failing, I do not tow or haul with truck. If I could afford it I'd get rid of it, nothing but problems.
