This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
The clutch pedal assembly/firewall fractured and made it difficult to shift the manual trans. The truck could not be placed in first gear without turning the engine off and taking all pressure off of the drivetrain. It became impossible to downshift gears when the vehicle was moving. I informed Toyota of the problem and they denied there had ever been a problem even though they redesigned a backing plate where the clutch pedal assembly attaches to the firewall. I have installed the backing plate but the firewall remains cracked.
The failure of this bracket (fractured at top left corner) prevented complete disengagement of the engine from transmission, making stopping difficult, nearly caused an accident. In addition, this failure resulted in the inability to start the vehicle, as the safety start switch can no longer be operated by depressing the clutch pedal. As a temporary fix, I had to jump out the switch to use the vehicle until repairs could be made. The new bracket is different in design from the original, indicating that Toyota recognizes the fault with the original unit.
