I have a 2001 Toyota Solara that I inherited from my step father. Last night I turned out of my driveway on to the road and started to press the gas to get up the hill. I then let off the gas to turn to the next road, and then I thought something was wrong with my transmission because it was idling, while in drive, at 1.5 RPMs going about 20 MPH and not shifting. I then thought about this very recall for the Camry. So I pressed a little to see if that's what was going on and sure enough, the car sped up and kept speeding up idling at 2.5 RPMs. While this was happening, a deer was standing on the side of the road and I barely missed him crossing since I had no way to stop. I had practiced what to do if this had ever happened And watched videos in case this ever happened since I had a Camry Solara. And the Camry and Camry Solara only have a different body style. I have had that confirmed by my high school and college teachers who specialized in Toyota and by a Toyota representative. So I am very upset with Toyota that they would recall a 2001 Camry, which is the exact same mechanically just a different body style, but not a Solara that has the same exact problem. I am very disappointed and do not want my car. I am in Toyota school and I don't even want to work for Toyota anymore finding this out. I put people I love in that car and now I don't feel safe having it in my driveway much less driving it. I have a case with Toyota and if something isn't done about this, then obviously Toyota's motto which states "Customer first, dealer second and manufacturer third" then we being the customers and being put dead last. Thank you for your time.
