While my wife and I were driving near home, we heard an explosion that sounded similar to a gun shot. After searching we discovered that the sun roof had exploded outward. We are in San Luis Obispo, CA for the summer and the dealership here only comment was that it was impossible for this item to explode and that something must have hit it. After explaining to the representative that it was impossible for anything to have hit it where it happened, he disagreed and refused to cover it under warranty. Further research has revealed that this problem is not a new one but the Toyota dealer here refused to even consider the possibility that the sunroof glass had exploded from within and that nothing had hit it to cause it to explode. With the number of incidents reported it would appear that whoever is supplying this type of glass to the dealers has a quality issue that the consumers are having to pay for.
