Sienna L 3.5lV6

Purchased my 2014 Sienna used from private dealer. Really like it, but 2 things are very annoying about the vehicle. First thing is the speedometer. It's about 3 MPH off at 40 mph. I haven't been able to measure it at any different speed yet, just at 40, but peeps flying by me at 70 tell me that the difference gets worse with increased speed. Second thing is the upper glove box. The latch is broken and in order to fix the problem I have to take apart the entire dashboard and install a new latch mechanism or a new glove box. My neighbor has exact same model year and his has broken 2x now. Fix is expensive too! Toyota must have known that this box was not so great, since in 2015 they changed the style of the box.

Sienna LE 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 200 miles

Odometer always shows up speed as +2mph then the actual speed.

I used the comparison against the speed reported by Garmin GPS (that has a shows the speed).

Originally I guessed it might be the problem with GPS however, I verified the GPS accuracy by using it in lot of other model cars, and GPS speed always matched the speed shown on odometer.

In case of Sienna it did not match and sienna kept showing higher speed. Further I notified couple of dealers but most of them didn't entertain the idea of the issue.

One of the dealer said they have reported the problem in their system and will let me know if Toyota comes with some sort of fix for it.

In reality its really annoying to see higher speed on odometer further I just wonder if same thing might be happening with the Mileage calculation on vehicle.
