I bought the 2013 Sienna SE on 01/21/13 and the 3rd row seats was in stow away position so I didn't hear any rattling noise and squeaks. However after a couple days later, I brought the 3rd row seats to an up right position, I started to notice rattling and squeaky noise when driving on highway and city streets, especially when driving over bumps and groves. Then I had my friend sit on the 3rd row seats while I'm driving and the rattling and squeaks would go away, but when he gets up from the seats, the noise would come back again.
Problem is the 3rd row seats causes the rattling and squeaks. I took the car to the dealer because it is still under warranty. Service technician stated that it is a known problems since 2011 model, and they have not found a permanent solution to the problem. I was told that they have tried lubricating and using plastic or rubber cushion but it would be a temporary solution. The fix that they did to my car was that they wrap some kind of hard plastic tape on the latch bars. This helps somewhat but doesn't eliminate completely the rattling and squeaks. I'm sure after many times of tucking away and bringing the 3rd row seats to an up right position, there will be wears and tears on the rubber cushion and the noise would come back again.
I am thinking of turning in the car. I'm not sure I can live with a rattling and squeaky noise every time I ran over bumps and groves or driving on rough rough. I'm wondering if any 2011 Sienna thru 2013 Sienna owners have the same problem as I.
