So my driver side sliding door I noticed has been rubbing on my quarter window, even removed the rubber from it. One day I opened the door and heard a cracking sound, but saw nothing. A few minutes later, my son opens the door again and the sliding door removed the quarter window from its place, fell and of course broke into pieces. The dealer told me it was my fault for having the quarter window open. REALLY!!!
So I searched in the owners manual and still haven't found where it actually tells me that it is not correct to have a quarter window open before operating the sliding door. None of my minivan friends tells me that the window needs to be closed before opening the door. The only thing the book says is, do not put body parts out of the open window when opening the sliding doors. Door jam protection didn't kick in either. The cost for repairs was $824.00. I didn't pay it.
I want to fix it myself, but if the problem is actually the door, it will probably do it again. I need the dealer to verify it.
