I bought a Toyota for a little more worry free ownership. I was shocked and appalled that I had to pay so much for new transmission at such low miles.

I am furious always been fan of my Toyota Sienna and bragged about no problems. First the water pump and now the transmission. I do not have the money to fix right now. It stinks!!!! So searching for a used one which is not easy and we are down to one vehicle :(

Not much to say except I didn't expect it to happen to a Toyota. That's why we bought it. It was supposed to be a reliable vehicle.

Sienna Limited 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 41,000 miles

So I purchased the "GOLD" [cough] standard in cars; TOYOTA. Even went as far and purchased a Toyota Certified Pre Owned Sienna. Van had all the goodies I was looking for, and AWD to boot. During test drive, when you let off the accelerator pedal, at around 30-45 MPH, there was a wooshing sound. I figured it must be normal since this was a certified Toyota vehicle, and thought nothing of it. I drove it for a month and figured this noise is NOT normal. Contacted the local dealer, and took the technician for a test drive. I was able to duplicate the noise. Technician tore apart the center differential and found metal shavings. They inspected all the bearings and etc, and found no wear. Then they tore into the transmission, and found HUGE metal shavings. Toyota had to replace my transmission in this van. This van ONLY HAS 41K on it!!! I thought by buying my family a Certified Pre Owned Toyota, I would be set. NOT! This was my first Toyota vehicle, and IT WILL BE MY LAST.
