problem #2

Sienna LXE V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 149,925 miles

traction control light came on again and brakes slammed on by themselves, I about got rear ended by a cop. The roads are dry and paved, not sure what the hell is going on, I have taken it in to another dealership and they cannot find anything wrong with the vehicle, no codes are popping up.

problem #1

Sienna XLE 3.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 123,650 miles

I was driving on a straight, dry road with cruise control set at 58 MPH. Suddenly car began down shifting. I assumed transmission problem. I disengaged cruise control and car almost came to a stop. I pressed accelerator and drove to nearest pull-off. Noticed left front brake was smoking. I waited til things cooled off and drove 6 miles to nearest service station in low gear at 20mph. Mechanic found all brakes locked up, reemoved all wheels and inspected all rotors, calipers, etc. When he did something to left front caliper all brakes disengaged. He checked fluid level and brake lines and found no proble. I've driven car approx. 500 miles since problem occurred and it hasn't happened again. I don't use cruise control often - and haven't used it since problem occurred.

I'm wondering if there's a problem with cruise control? Mechanic suggested I have a new master cylinder installed. A friend says it sounds like a problem with the "vacuum booster" (whatever that is??). Has this happened to anyone else?? Any suggestions??
