My Navigation/stereo screen went blank. All it would do it click and the button lights would come on and off about every 5 seconds. So my Navi, Stereo, Blue tooth, back up camera, and DVD don't work. A new unit is around $1,400.
I found a place called www.radiomedics.com that repairs factory stereos and took it to them for repair. They told me they had 5 of the same units come in within the past 3 months. He told me on the first one they got they checked it out and located the problem. He said they could fix the unit IF Denso (the company who manufactures the unit) would sell them the parts needed. He said Denso will not sell them the parts so the only other option is new.
I emailed the president of Denso telling him how disappointed I was with the situation and simply asked them to offer the parts needed for repair. I just got a generic email back stating I should contact Toyota to see if they could help. Like Toyota will sell an internal component for one of these units.
So I'm basically stuck with a $1,400 bill to get my van back in order. I have to tack that onto the $1,500 bill to fix one of my power doors. I'm just waiting for the other door to go out so I will be $4,400 into repairs for my "reliable/dependable" Toyota product.
I don't have a problem paying radiomedic to fix my unit. I do have a problem having to shell out $1,400 for a new unit from Toyota on my van with under 70K miles on it.
