We love our 2005 Toyota Sienna. It currently has 179,000 miles on it and no rust or other damage. No issues except that we have replaced the rack and pinion assembly five times. I have all the receipts with the dates but not right in front of me. The mechanic just keeps asking me how many times I am going to pay to fix this for it to happen again. This tells me that the problem is something in the design of the car and I am really annoyed that Toyota has ignored all of these reports.

I don't want to just junk this van that is perfectly fine except for the ever leaking boot. Right now, we need to keep pouring power steering fluid into the well in order to drive the van. Has anyone gotten anywhere with Toyota on a better fix for this issue? So fed up right now.

While replacing the timing belt on 2005 toyota sienna, told by dealer that my rack and pinion needs replacement and it would cost 1200 $ plus about 100 for wheel alignment. I also have 2005 Toyota camry and have the exact same complaint.

Sienna LE V6 3.0L

  • Automatic transmission

I own two Toyota products and now have a gripe with both. They are not new but have been well maintained and garage kept for their entire lives. They were purchased because the brand had a reputation for longevity,

During a routine check at a Goodyear store 6 months ago, I was told Power Steering was starting to leak. It's customary for all service centers to identify every issue they see in hopes of adding extra revenue. At that time I passed on getting anything done since the car operation was fine. Over Xmas the steering started to have noises and did not provide the full ratio.

After the heart dropping cost estimate to replace this safety issue, I did some web searching. Wow, just by the Rav4, the number of complaints seem to warrant action by Toyota.

There is hope for this Sienna steering issue - Toyota bellied up 1/2 the repair bill on my Rav4!
