The contact owns a 2005 Toyota Sienna. The contact stated that the spare tire carrier was rusted and could potentially fracture. The vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 14V273000 (tires), but the part had not been available for over a year. The vehicle was also included in NHTSA campaign number: 13V429000 (power train); however, the part was not available to repair the vehicle under the recall remedy.the manufacturer was contacted and could not provide an estimated date for when the contacts vehicle would receive the recall repairs. The failure mileage was not available.
2005 Toyota Sienna. Consumer writes in regards to the spare tire cable recall issues. The dealer informed the consumer, the part was not available. For safety purposes, the dealer removed the tire and placed inside the vehicle. For the past six months, the consumer was informed the part was still not available.
I received my 1st recall notice (10V-160) in 2010 and the current recall eos (E1S 14V273) arrived in may/2014. It is now March/2015 and still Toyota is working on a solution. This is a joke and clearly malfeasance on their part. Five years of allowing a very potentially serious problem to go uncorrected seems almost criminal to me. Cannot the authorities apply some pressure on Toyota or will it take deaths and lawsuits to move a fix along.
I received a recall notice from Toyota regarding cable corrosion for the spare tire assembly. I brought the car to the Toyota dealer and they removed the cable and spare tire from under the car. I agreed to have this work completed based on an estimate from the dealer that the new parts to have the spare tire reinstalled would be made available within 4 wks. Now about 7 wks have passed and there is still no word from Toyota about when this spare tire solution will be made available. For 7 wks I have had to drive around with the spare tire the well of my Toyota while it bangs around and takes up a lot of space. My storage in the car has been compromised and I have to put delicate things and groceries at other places in the car. It is imperative that Toyota issue a permanent solution to this spare tire problem!
Power sliding door cable on passenger side snapped during opening under power. Broken cable was frayed. Now hanging from rear window area. Dealer won't help. Too expensive to repair.

First dashboard has numerous cracks, then rear camera stopped working, then navigation system stopped working, now radio works intermittently - I believe the problem is electrical because of continuous humming sound radio emits. I am concerned about the airbags and also being without rear camera frightens me. Toyota has refused to fix problem 0 states out of warranty.
Dashboard cracks over the entire length of the dashboard. Cracks in area above glove compartment that houses the airbag. Cracks in dashboard in front of steering wheel.
My Toyota Sienna is garage-kept and frequently cleaned and waxed inside out. However all these hard work still could not prevent cracking being found on the dashboard on the front passenger side. I have a friend who has similar issue with the dashboard of his 2005 Toyota Sienna van (also garage-kept and well maintained). I am suspecting that this premature cracking is a manufacturing defect which should be handled as a service recall by Toyota. I jhave never experienced any cracking on my other three Toyota I bought before.
The contact owns a 2005 Toyota Sienna. The contact stated that noises were heard from the dashboard. The noise had not caused any problems with the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the dealer was unable to determine what caused the noise. The failure mileage was 112,000 and the current mileage was 136,420. Updated 4/2/12
The contact owns a 2005 Toyota Sienna. The contact stated that the dashboard was cracked and the contact was concerned that the failure could result in the air bag deploying prematurely. The dealer did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was no longer under warranty. The manufacturer confirmed what the dealer advised the contact and offered no further assistance. No repairs were performed. The current mileage was 125,927 and the approximate failure mileage was 45,000. Updated 12/01/11 updated 12/12/11
My 2005 Toyota Sienna the upper dashboard(by the windshield & front airbags is cracking. I am highly concerned that these cracks will interfere with proper deployment of the front airbags in an accident situation. Also the upper dashboard may break apart in an accident situation and become airborne causing further injury to vehicle passengers. I have contacted Toyota and was told it was only covered for 36,000 miles or 3 years despite the fact it can pose a safety issue. In researching the internet, I found other 2004-2007 Toyota Sienna and other people work to the same problems with the cracked dashboard and the warranty not cover.
2005 Toyota Sienna rear auto hatch safety reverse mechanism does not stop the closing of the door when encountering an object, hand or body part or when attempts are made to stop the closing of the door. Door continues to close under power that cannot be reversed/stopped. This defect/problem could conceivably be a serious and potentially fatal hazard if a child was exiting the rear cargo compartment and the door was in the process of closing. A hand or arm in the door gap would not be sufficient to stop the closing of the door I believe although it would be quite stupid to attempt this situation since strong resistance by hand cannot reverse the closing of the door. This problem just started in August 2011.
The contact owns a 2005 Toyota Sienna. The contact stated that when opening the lift gate, the support strut failed and the door slammed shut. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was out of warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 50,000. The passenger side lift gate strut lost all pressurization and the left side strut did not prevent the lift gate for falling. I replaced both struts. Toyota had a recall for these struts but my vehicle was not included. I recommend that the struts should be redesigned to prevent sudden loss of pressurization and possible injury. The new design should provide for a slower drop of the lift gate when pressurization is lost in one strut. Thank you! updated 10/11/2011
The contact owns a 2005 Toyota Sienna. The contact stated that the driver and passenger side sliding door cables were defective. The cables froze and she was unable to open the doors. The dealer stated that the cables could be replaced but was unsure of the problem would be completely solved. The contact called the manufacturer who took a complaint but offered no assistance. The vehicle had not been repaired. The current and failure mileages were 80,000.
