This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
I took my 2019 Sequoia to Toyota of Knoxville for scheduled maintenance and was told the boots on my rack of my power steering has a leak and needs to be repaired for the cost of $2000. My Sequoia has 84,308 miles and I was told this was caused by "normal wear and tear." When I started looking into it I found a recall for 2008-2022 Sequoias with the exact same issue as mine (Toyota Recall 21TB10 or 21TA10) issued on November 22, 2021, but was told that despite my car having the same issue that it was not covered by the recall and I would have to pay for repairs to-of-pocket. Upon further research, the number one cause for leaks in power steering is age and use, again, my Sequoia is a 2019 with 84,308 miles, so neither would apply.
