I have a 2008 Sequoia, and I'm in the middle of a disaster with XM Satellite radio and the superb JBL synthesis music system. If you have a 2009 or 2010 Sequoia, I believe the Satellite is already installed, even if you don't use it. Congratulations, you have a $2,000 stereo that has been disabled by XM. You don't know what you are missing.

Here's the problem.

From jbltoyota.com, your JBL system has a digital signal processor (DSP) that controls 11 channels on 14 speakers, pumping out 600 watts of power in a superb state-of-the-art surround sound system. And yes, this was true of my system, before I installed XM satellite. I used to love to listen to music in my Sequoia - it sounded like an opera house, with booming bass, and perfect fidelity.

Unfortunately, when they install XM, it seems that the DSP chip gets fried. Now the system sounds like a $50 dollar stereo. Listen to your system. Does most of the sound come out of the dashboard system? Are the side and back speakers muted? Do you hear surround sound in great depth that you would expect from 14 speakers controlled by 11 independent channels? My system sounds like it has one single channel, with no bass, surround or anything.

Sadly, neither JBL nor Toyota even knows of this issue. I even had them remove XM satellite from my Sequoia, but the system has been fried.

If you don't believe this, please listen to a 2008 Sequoia with the JBL synthesis pro sound system - that does not have the XM tuner installed. Then you will hear what you've been missing.

Toyota and JBL are ignoring this issue. Please help me in letting them know that we would like to hear our music.

thanks
