This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
This is an intermittent and random problem. Radio/disc player turns itself on and off going over bumps and/or when cornering. Sometimes radio is on, but all displays are blank, and radio does not respond to any controls, including the power button. Sometimes the problem resolves by shutting vehicle completely down and restarting. Sometimes it takes several restart cycles to resolve. Dealer service department stated that this "is a known problem, " but that "no recall had been issued." I realize this doesn't rank up there with tires and fuel tanks. Nonetheless, having an electrical component behave like this makes one wonder about the possibilities for an electrical fire. Also, having any piece of equipment behave this way definitely increases the risk of accident due to driver distraction. More than once I've been physically and mentally startled when the radio unexpectedly turned itself on and blasted me with my kids' music.
