I purchased my 2007 Toyota Sequoia Limited brand new from the dealership. I chose Toyota for it's safety and reliability. My mother was a diehard Toyota devotee. She has owned at least 4 in the last 10-15 years. I also chose Toyota because I knew this vehicle would last me at a minimum - 15 years without any major issues as long as I kept up the maintenance, which I have. My Sequoia has had VSC TRAC/TRAC OFF/BRAKE lights on and off for the last couple of years. The first time the issue occurred, my vehicle made a brake grinding noise. It felt like the vehicle was slipping out of gear or something. Thankfully, I was not driving at a high rate of speed because I believe I would have been in an accident. I was able to pull over. I shut the vehicle off for a few moments and upon restart the lights were off. This is not always feasible to stop and start the vehicle - nor should it be. I researched this issue and have found many who are experiencing the same problems that I am. The complaints and descriptions are exactly like mine. I'm sure Toyota is aware of the problem, but has yet to address the issue. This vehicle is my primary source of transportation for my family. I am afraid that this issue will eventually cause and accident or injury to myself and or my family or to some other innocent party.
My vehicle is out of the warranty period and cannot afford to spend a lot of money to have this issue rectified.
I am now in the market to purchase vehicles for myself and my daughter who will be graduating soon and I am sad to say that Toyota will no longer be a top contender.
