The contact owns a 2001 Toyota Sequoia. While driving 45 mph, the vehicle control, ABS, vcs, traction control, and stability warning indicators illuminated. The failures caused the vehicle to brake intermittently. The contact had to turn the vehicle off and on in order to resume normal operation. The vehicle was taken to groove Toyota (5460 S broadway, englewood, co 80113, (303) 800-9063) to be diagnosed, but the cause of the failures was not determined. The vehicle was not repaired and the failures recurred multiple times. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was approximately 100,056.

Warning lights on the dash board come on periodically for no apparent reason. I maintain the car properly with regular oil changes and manufacturer recommended service. They go off on their own. My mechanic has no idea what causes this. It happens standing still, in motion or just by starting the vehicle.

Vsc trac, vsc off, trac, emergency brake & ABS lights are all illuminated. Seems like every Sequoia 2001 - 2005 has this problem. After lots of research it seems like it's a fault with the vsc computer and ECU computer which dealers want $2000 and up! these malfunctions in computers affect the vehicles ABS brakes, and stability control system which poses a threat to safety of driver and passengers.

Wife was pulling off from a stoplight when the traction control system light (skidding car icon) and warning buzzer came on and the vehicle started making a loud grinding sound, vibrating, and pulling to the right. She pulled the vehicle over, turned it off, and called me to come swap vehicles with her. When I started the car, of course, the symptoms had gone away. Several days later on a family trip, I was driving the vehicle on the interstate at 65-70 mph when the vehicle did the same thing she had described. We pulled over, the noise stopped, and then the vsc/trac and trac off came on. This should be a recall fix. Too many vehicles have had this problem, over several production years (2003's actually have a recall for a similar issue). However, reading various forums has made me think Toyota doesn't even know the root cause of this. But it's definitely a safety issue that needs to be checked out.

The contact owns a 2001 Toyota Sequoia. The contact stated that the vehicle stability control and track warning lights illuminated. The contact lost control of the vehicle as the steering wheel haphazardly pulled to the right. The failure was experienced several times and even when the vehicle engine was turned off. The vehicle would reset independently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was advised that without the lights illuminated when the diagnostic was performed then the vehicle could not be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 125,000 and the current mileage was 126,000.

Vsc/trac control system engaged while driving on smooth dry road at 70 mph. Vehicle began to lurch and brake, had to guide to side of road. Extremely dangerous. Turned vehicle off, restarted, vsc off light and check engine light were on. Has happened multiple times since, with Toyota indicating that vsc computer needs to be replaced for $1200+.

When traveling at any speed the two warning lights concerning the trac control on the the dash comes on and beeps several times, the vehicle suddenly brakes and pulls hard to the right temporarily losing control. All this happens in a split second with no warning. I am very concerned with my safety along with my families and others on the road concerning this safety defect.

We bought our 2001 Toyota Sequoia in July 2009. While driving home from the used car lot the "vsc trace" and the "vsc off" lights came on and have never gone back off. The car lot said that the vehicle was "as is" and we had to deal with it. After having the vehicle for a month, the "cruise control" light started coming on, blinking at times, then it would turn off for a week or so, then it would come on steady and blink at times for days straight. One day while driving the "brake" light, "vsc trac" light, "vsc off" light, the "door ajar" light, and the "cruise" light all came on and blinked rapidly while driving. After pulling over and turning off the car and back on, they were still blinking. I turned it off and on many times and they all continued to blink. After getting home and letting it sit over night, they didn't come back on. Currently the "vsc trac" and the "vsc off" light are still on. The "cruise control light is also on. After turning off the vehicle and removing the keys the "key" light stays on, blinking non-stop and the running lights stay on. Sometimes I can restart the car and the running lights will stay off after removing the keys and locking the doors. I couldn't get them off last weekend and tried everything, finally the battery died, after I got a jump start, they turned off. We continuously have problems with the dash board indicator lights and the running lights staying on tw*

We were driving down the hill and the traction control system went crazy we skidded out and then the ABS and traction control/slip lights went on. They stayed on until we took it to the dealer and they replace some brake sensors that were corroded. On the way home it happened again. The traction control computer was reporting that there were still bad sensors, but the sensors were fine, so they replaced the entire traction control computer. After a week in the shop it finally came back working. A traction control system should not throw your car out of control and run you off the road. The dealer said that they had not seen so much corrosion under a vehicle before. They said that the frame, exhaust, spare tire, and brake components as well as various other electrical components looked to have what they would call excessive corrosion. They said I should take it up with whom I bought it from. I think this is the same problem as the Tundra are having with corrosion and should be looped into the same investigation. The Sequoia, I was told when I bought it, was designed on the same frame, and drive train as the Tundra which would explain why the corrosion is effecting similar braking systems and the spare. I would love for someone to investigate this. I would have hated for anything to happen to my family which was in the car with me.

The check engine, vsc, and traction lights on my 2001 Toyota Sequoia all came on simultaneously at 82,000 miles, I was told that I need to replace the transmission for $3800 and the computer needs replacing for about $2000. The brakes have been constant struggle requiring replacement every 8 months.

With no prior warning symptoms, the "vsc trac" "vsc off" brake" and ABS" light come on in my 2001 Toyota Sequoia. It started about 2 weeks ago just once in a while, but now it happens almost every time I put the car in motion. It seemed to me at first that it happened most frequently when the weather is cold (the high 30S is about as cold as it ever gets here, though.) this is a problem that has been reported by many others. See here: www.tundrasolutions.com/forums/1gen-Sequoia/62954-vsc-trac-vsc-off-brake-ABS-2/.

During normal driving vsc, trac control and brake lights all lit up. Lights go off and come back on intermittently. I have been on edmunds website and see too many other people with this exact issue. It will cost on the average over $1,000 to correct. My vehicle is no longer covered under warranty and is too young and expensive to have this issue. This is something that I feel Toyota should recall.

The front braking system on 2001 Sequoia was replaced and upgraded. The brake jobs were performed at the following mileages: 15K, 25K, 30K, 55K, and 74K miles. The left wheel rattled over the rough road, the rear left strut made a noise when going over bumps due to a broken shock, and the engine light had come on.
