This is a known problem. Toyota gave us written assurances that our RAV 4 EV could be serviced in ANY state. Every dealer has given us problems in service (Refused to do even basic recalls, updates or service) or charged more than the price to purchase a replacement RAV 4 EV, from CA, ID, OR, WA.
We have been told to take it back to CA, and the CA dealer also gives us problems on service from not returning calls to excuses why they do not have ANY trained personnel.
All the problems we have experienced are TOYOTA parts, NOT Tesla parts.
The 12v battery dies (even when new or fully charged and verified at full voltage) in 30 minutes if you leave the car on and parked.
The 12v charging system will not keep up with the car's power drain from the TOYOTA side systems.
We LOVE the car when it runs. It is LITERALLY my favorite car except for the service problems, we SAVE $200 a month in gas costs alone! The gas savings will pay for the cost of a replacement battery, and after 5 years we still have full range from when it was new! It's range actually went up by 10 miles in the first 3 years! TOYOTA has been Unprofessional, Incompetent, and Arbitrary with the service options for this vehicle. Idaho dealers are especially bad.
