When I went to look at buying a used 2017 RAV4 Limited with 7831 miles at Phillips Toyota in Leesburg, FL. I mentioned to the salesman and to the business manager that the car and alloy wheel rims needed to be detailed. The rims looked like they had a lot of brake dust and had runs, like the "rims had gotten wet with the brake dust". The salesmen said they had a rim specialist who could detail the rims. After talking to the service manager about the problem, he told me "he see this all the time" and that Toyota won't repair or replace the rims on the 2017, 2018 cars. Something about "people must be spraying the rims with some clearer" that is affecting the rim discoloration. The car had a XZILON application. To me, this is a defect in the paint process of the rims that is failing and needs to be addressed by Toyota. The rims are visually ruined!
So because I mentioned the problem verbally to the salesman and the business manager they were not as good as their world, "they would take care of the rim discoloration problem". Never trust a dealer to do what's best for the customer and only have it in writing. I will never buy a car from this dealer again!!!
