I totaled my truck end of May 2019, and needed to buy another vehicle. Did research, checked recalls, tech bulletins etc and decided on 2016 RAV4. In early June 2019 I looked at 5 different 2016 RAV4s on dealer lots, with different trims, but ALL 5 had badly fogged tail lights. Bought the RAV4 with least amount of tail light fogging. Dealer wanted $500 to replace the 4 tail lights. I went to local auto repair shop with good reviews & got the job done for $650 on 6/24/19. Auto repair shop got replacement tail lights from local Toyota dealer. Less than 2 months later bad rain storm and there is condensation around rim of all 4 tail lights. This must be a factory defect but have not found a recall or tech bulletin for it. I would like Toyota to FIX THE PROBLEM and reimburse my payment for defective tail lights.

After getting routine maintenance performed at Flow Toyota in Statesville, N.C., they gave my vehicle a complimentary wash and vacuum after the service. Very nice! I noticed a fogging inside both of my tail lights but I shrugged it off to condensation (since droplets of water were still on the car) and I figured they would clear up after I drove it home. Sadly, this wasn't the case.

When I got home, I noticed the condensation had dried into a white powdery residue (soap?) that appeared to be inside the tail lights that I knew wasn't there before. I had about 20 minutes before the dealership closed, so I quickly headed back and showed the fogging to both the Service Advisor and the Service Director. He browsed the internet while I was there and we both saw examples of owners who had documented the exact same problem. He promised to contact Toyota and see if they would cover this (since it was out of warranty) and sure enough, they replaced both assemblies today at no charge. They obviously know that this is an issue.

I have requested for Flow Toyota to never perform the complimentary wash/vacuum for my vehicle again.
