This is a copy of what I sent to our attorney generals office...
My husband and I noticed some water stains near the A pillars in my 2014 Toyota Rav4 (Which is a lease). The A pillars are next to your wind sheild...to help this make a little sense. So we took it down to our dealership to have it checked out. We'll they automatically with out even taking a look at it blamed the wind sheild since I had to have it replace (it is illegal to drive with a cracked windshield). So they had the impression that it was coming from the replacement glass...so I of course take it down to the Tacoma Speedy Auto Glass where I had the repair done. They did all their pressure tests and check seals...not the windshield. They even went as far as testing the sunroof (amazing service).
So we proceed with the process and take it back to Toyota of Renton where the Service Manger began to be little me and played this whole thing like it was my fault and "I bought the car as is" so deal with it. When in all reality my car is still under its bumper to bumper warranty. He finally called a few days later and says "Toyota cleared a 3rd party to check it and we I'll make an appointment for you to come to the dealership". So we take the car down to the dealership... (not a close drive either) leave it for the day while this "leak specialist" does his tests. Once this was completed they "found no leaks" so nothing was done with the water stains and since these "tests" there are more stains that have appeared. In the meanwhile the leak guy broke some clips on the A pillar and didn't say anything.
So the next day I make yet another trip to this horrible place and try to deal with this. They claim they ordered a new part but it's been over a week and I have yet to hear about that one.frustrates and near tears I leave and I notice Mt headline which was flaw free how has dirt and dents in it from them messing with the A pillars. I tried to go to a different dealership to see what other routes may be available and was told since this dealership has messed up way to many things in my car. They did not want to get involve. But did refer me to the Toyota care phone line. So I called them...made the same complaint I am making here. I was supposed to receive a call from their "customer care specialist" within 2 business days....5 go by and I finally follow up.
Beyond frustrated and discouraged. The dealership told the Toyota team I was there on 7/2 (which I was not) and no further action was needed.
So basically I am just barley over 1 year into my lease of a BRAND NEW vehicle with plenty of warranty on it and CLEARLY this is some sort of manufacturer defect and. NO ONE wants to do the "right" thing and help fix it. At this point my relationship ship with this location is ruined and so is the name Toyota. I really hope there is something you can help us with. We are stuck and don't know what to do to make this right.
