We purchased this 2012 Toyota Rav 4 in August 2017 as second hand, second owner, directly from Toyota in Saint John, NB. This was about the 6th instance of "unintended acceleration", which has been WELL DOCUMENTED in the past, but the scariest. When it first happened in 2017, we brought it to Toyota's attention and they claimed they could find nothing when they attempted to reproduce the sitatuation. They claimed they checked the computer system and all checked out.. We did not know about the history, at the time, and they did not disclose the history of this issue. This time it happened while in a parking lot. My husand's foot was ON THE BRAKE but it revved up to 80 KPH. We felt our time was up and we'd smash into the car parked in front of us, but he managed to get the car into Park and then turn it off. It has happened other times, mostly in slow or stopped positions, and several times in the rain. IT IS DEADLY AND TERRIFYING.
