Add another 2014 Toyota RAV4 to the list of disappointed owners! This is my first Toyota I've owned and I bought because of the high ratings from Consumer Reports. My radio quit and remains in a reboot mode that cannot fully boot up again. After googling the issue, I found this website and was quite surprised to find so many complaints with the same issue. I brought my car into the dealership and they were unable to repair stating it will require an exchange unit for $1,200. Then to top it off, they found several more repairs needed:(

Up to this point I've loved my car, but given the cost of the new repairs in addition to the radio, I've got to rethink about my next vehicle. My next step is to contact Toyota Customer Care.

Update from Mar 10, 2023: I contacted Toyota Customer Care and was very pleased with how they handled the complaint. They agreed to pay 75.61% of the cost for the new radio. When I called Maplewood Toyota to schedule the repair and let them know what Customer Care said, they agreed to discount the service quote from $1152 to $991. Toyota paid $750 for the new radio. I ended up paying $234 in all. My husband and I were very happy with the outcome. When it came time to replace his older Subaru, he bought a new Toyota Hylander Hybrid and we love the car! I am still driving the 2014 RAV4.

One day the infotainment system stopped working and went into a continuous reboot loop refusing to restart. Backup camera still displays but that is all the unit does. The problem is the same as described in many other complaints on this website and others in the internet. Not only have I lost use of the cd player and radio, the reboot loop continuously being displayed is extremely distracting making it a serious safety hazard.

I have searched for a DIY fix on the internet and the consensus is that the unit must be replaced and will cost as much as $1,500 at the dealer. I am searching for a cheaper fix, and will even consider rigging up an external cd player, if possible. But Toyota should recall this common faulty part and do the right thing, as they did with the fuel gel problem of the past - after class action - and restore their reputation as a dependable builder of quality vehicles by replacing the unit without charge. This shakes my confidence in future reliability of my Rav4.

I have always loved the Toyota Brand but to say that I am disappointed and highly upset is an understatement. I feel highly deceived, being that my vehicle is relatively new. It works fine. My radio just stopped working one day. Much like a lot of other Rav 4 Toyota owners. The radio is now in a constant state of reboot. I cant touch any buttons or do much with it. The alternative? well, replace it. That Is a great deal of money for a person such as myself right now.

The reason I bought a Toyota was to minimize the parts a replacements I would have to do to the vehicle in my lifetime. However, Instead of recommending my vehicle to anyone, I now tell them NOT TO BUY THE TOYOTA RAV 4 because one of the reasons I loved it was because of the Entune System and audio. In fact, I paid for the damn entertainment upgrade!

I would seriously love to know what Toyota is doing about this, because this is highly unacceptable from a trusted brand as Toyota.

The radio was questionable from the time I purchased the certified pre owned Rav4 in Oct 2017. It would fade in out and out while driving however, I assumed it was my location. Now, I have nothing. NOTHING! That is unacceptable for the price and for the quality expected from a Toyota

Toyota has been our cars for many years. I'm so disappointed that when I finally decided to "upgrade' from my Corolla to a Rav4 that it's now having this radio/phone/screen problem. When I turn on the car everything comes on but then I can't change the volume, can't even turn off the radio with the dial. The screens won't change and the phone won't go through the car. It sounds like Toyota isn't willing to fix this or at least may the repair cost reasonable - under $500. This is a 2014 with 26K miles and I've only had it 1 year. That's a new car even if it out of warranty. Shame on you Toyota! What a disappointment!

Just got back from the dealer. 860.00 for an exchange radio that they get from Toyota. Toyota customer car blew me off. They said i could buy the radio from the dealer and then submit the paperwork and they would then consider looking at it. Why would i pay $860 dollars for a refurbished exchange unit and then hope they might help reimburse me a little bit. The lady was not very nice about it either, denying there are problems with these units.

The stereo changed stations. Changed from radio to cd or vice versa, turned on when off whenever I went over a little bump...They replaced it with a new one saying that it was defective. Now it is June 2015 and they have replaced that one, so I am on my 3rd stereo system for my less than one year new 2014 Rav4....complete garbage.

I believe there is a wiring problem, not the stereo itself. Replacing the stereo again is simply a bandage effect by Toyota, rather than dealing with the underlying problem....complete garbage...If I wanted to purchase garbage I would have went to the junk yard, but I guess Toyota is equivalent to the junk yard
