Water is leaking into my 2014 Toyota Rav 4. I thought it was the sunroof. Dealership is saying no. It rained last night and this morning when I turned my 1st corner water came dripping out of my visor on the drivers side. The point of the drip is where the visor swings on the hinge. When I turned onto Main St water came dripping out of the visor on the passenger side. The fabric in the ceiling is wet where the plastic meets the fabric about an inch down from the top of the side window -which is between the side window and the windshield.. on both sides and it's soaked about 2" 's up the side of the window fabric towards the top of the windshield on the driver side and on the passenger side windows.
I noticed in March 2018 when I cleaned my car out that the carpet was really wet -(drivers side had standing water under the mat) front drivers floor, front passengers floor and behind the driver back seat floor. The only floor that wasn't wet was the passenger back seat floor. Some days the smell makes me sneeze quite a bit, but always it smells an awful musty odor. I had put baking soda in there in the container to try to get it out or dry it up. I thought that the carpet was wet because of the snow on my boots from winter. I do have mats and thought it may have went over the edge of the mats. Which in retrospect was an odd thought because I've never had the problem of too much water in my car after a Michigan winter and I'm 58 years old.
Now -two days ago I see where the water was coming from. August 20th it rained at night and during the day on August 21st it started leaking from the visor. I talked to Dunning Toyota yesterday and made the appointment to bring the car in today. It rained last night and was leaking again today and the ceiling was wet again today, August 23rd 2018. I've now owned the car 1 year and 3 months. I bought it May 7th of 2017. I don't recall if we had a lot of rain last summer but this summer we've hardly had any until a few days ago.
So today the car is up at the dealership and they're trying to figure out where it's leaking. They're telling me it's the drain tube from the AC and it's going onto the carpet passenger side. That the carpet on the passenger side is wet. My question to him is why is the design draining the AC into my roof so that it can literally drip out my visor and run down my window frame? So he's now reassessing what the problem is. I told the sales person that it's dripping out of the visor and showed him. Apparently he didn't tell the person who's trying to assess the issue. He's now going to take it to the car wash to see if it pours water into the inside of my car, out the visor and then it can drip onto my carpet and pool up... Oh yea!
I'll hear back from them tomorrow on what they believe the problem is and who's going to be financially responsible for fixing it.
