In 2014 OCT. I purchased new 2014 Toyota RAV4 with 5 years extended ECP. And the next week after I took it back to the Dealer Service to fix this problem.And I was told, Sorry this model was made like this and can not be fixed.
Than I complained to Toyota tecnical support Toronto Head Office, and I got the same answer.
Driving at night when the head lights are on, there is little more lights on the speedometer. But in Day time there is very dim lights and it is not possible to see what speed car is going with sunglasses.
Than last week of Dec 2014 I went to the Dealer to see 2016 same RAV 4 Limited.and I was surprised to see the same problem.With so many complains Toyota did not fix this with new Models.
This design Dash is in 2013 2014 2015 2016 RAV4.
I will not advise people over 60 to buy this SUV without test drive in Sunny Day with Sunglasses on.
The instrumentation illumination is not on during daylight i.e. when the car lights are not on. When driving in sunlight the instruments are just a black void. This is very dangerous, since you have no indication of speed etc. The panel only lights up when the car lights are on. Why should I have to drive round with car lights on all the time??????
This is my third RAV4 and the previous two had the instrumentation illuminated at all times, plus variation of the intensity.
