Wife took her 2012 RAV4 for annual state safety inspection today and failed, due to rear struts leaking out. Original owner and only 50K on the car. Is this a common problem with Toyota?

As much as I love my RAV4, I have had many brake, shocks and strut issues eventhough the mileage is quite low. My daughter has a 2010 and has only had to replace her brakes.

I called Toyota and reported it but they said it is outside the warranty period.

An unexpected failure at very low miles. Vehicle not used off road!
