My 2012 Rav 4 has had a rough idle with loss of power and shifting up and down of the RPM's. It has been going on for over a year and getting worse. Several months ago I took it to my mechanic and he said it was a code that needed set but four days before I was to get that done he died. I have not had it done yet but am not sure if that is the whole problem.I called Toyota long ago but they said there is no reported ploblem with that and said I would have to have them check it. They charge too much and would probably tell me there was nothing wrong. I will have to go to another mechanic soon. My Rav has 73,000 miles on it. It is great otherwise and I love this car. I think it is a problem that Toyota should fix as I feel this is probably something they already know about. My mechanic that died had put it on his machine and said it was a code.
