ongling issue with door locks not operating The key fob does not open or lock the doors and this has been ongoing for 2 and a half years. The car has been back and forth to the Toyota dealer where I bought the car over this time and they have nice and tried to resolve the problem but it's simply not working. To lock the car I have to manually reach over and flick the passenger door locked from the inside. Then get out and press the fob which will lock the rear doors and boot and activate the alarm. Then insert the key to lock the driver door.

If I press the 'doors lock' button before getting out of the car, only rear doors and boot locks operate but they disarm themselves when I get out of the car and shut the driver door.

To unlock the car, I press the fob to disarm the alarm and this also unlocks the boot (most of the time but not always) and the rear passenger doors (although one often doesn't unlock sometimes with the fob so have to reach in and manaully unlock it once I have got in). The driver door can only be unlocked with the key, and the front passenger door can only be unlocked from the inside manually. So it's basically a dance around the car every time I leave it somewhere to make sure that all the doors are locked. Sometimes I have done this dance, checked all the locks and the peered through the window to find one lock looks unlocked from the inside. Would my insurance pay out if my car got stolen due to malfunctioning locks- I think not.

One thing that worries me immensely is that I have recently moved workplace and no longer have access to parking nearby. I have to walk down a very quiet street and time recently there have been 'dodgy characters' walking toward me whilst I have approached my car. As a lone female this make me terrified especially when my doors don't open and I can't get into my car quickly.

My car is absolutely lovely to drive and I think it looks good enough for me, so I don't really want to change it.... And can do without the expense when the car itself is fine just the locks let it down.

I really hope someone from Toyota will read this entry and have a solution for me as I just want my locks to work!! Has anyone else had the same problem I wonder. My dealership are baffled and I am sure they must think I am incapable of using my fob correctly but that's not the case at all. I feel like I am living with a long term medical condition as this has made me feel that way!
