I took my vehicle to Frank Toyota to inquire about a whining noise while accelerating down the road and freeway. I was told that this is an issue with the RAV 4 vehicles and to stop this noise, I would have to replace the axle for $6500.00. I am told that my warranty has expired and there was nothing in place to resolve this ongoing issue with the RAV 4's. I asked Toyota.com if there is anything that Toyota can help with to resolve this issue, I received a message from Erin at Toyota Customer Experience. She spoke to Dave, the service manager at Frank Toyota. He stated to me that the whining noise is an issue with RAV 4's and would be taken care of only with the replacement of the axle. He stated to Erin that it is not a manufacturers concern and that he would like to monitor the noise. I was disappointed that his service department would tell me it is a RAV 4 issue and then in his conversation with Toyota, it isn't a manufacturer's defect?
