This paint was an extra charge when we purchased the car. We are not certain if Toyota will cover this under warranty. If not the charge by the dealers autobody shop is estimated at $1321.67. The car has not been in hail and is garaged.

RAV4 Limited 4 cyl

Toyota Factory Rep blamed the chipped paint on the environment. Apparently over 2.5 million people are having the same "Environmental Problem" when you google Toyota Paint complaints, I now have white flakes where black paint used to be, this paint and the chips are getting worse, my payments will last longer than the paint, the factory rep stated that this paint defect will not affect my re-sale, I have to laugh, can any manufacturer who has a vehicle that has chipped paint all over the vehicle, get full price if these cars were new, and if they came from the manufacturer looking like this? Toyota owners like me and others need to file a class action, apparently the Lexus brands have the same problem, and a class action has been filed over paint complaints in California.

RAV4 v6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 6,000 miles

The car paint has been chipping on the hood, doors, rear door, fenders , etc. This clearly is a problem. I have owned cars with 100000miles that had accumulated less paint damage over ten yrs let alone 10 days from purchase. The problem is clearly chipping and not scuffing or scratches from collision with other cars in the parking lot setting.
