I have Toyota 2008 and i have only 27,000 miles.
The front windshield weatherstrip rubber is cracking and brittle. I see it peeling away.
I called Toyota and they asked to take to the dealer. I took it to dealer in Simi valley, California and they diagnosed it as cosmetic only.
I asked them how can it be cosmetic, the rubber should last longer then 10 or more years. I have seen other cars manufacturers and their weather strip in in very very good condition.
The cars is made in 2008 and not very old, I have bought it a certified vehicle with 7 year and 100,000 mile warranty.
I called Toyota office in Torrence and discussed this matter, they said that they will go along with the dealer's assessment, that is it is only cosmetic.
I explained to this people that this is not cosmetic, this a product defect or not well engineered product.
Are there any people with similar experience? Please share with me, next I may have to report to depart of consumer affairs.
