I have a four cylinder 2007 Rav4 that I bought new in 2007. Since it was my first new car, I was not experienced on what to add to the deal. So I was convinced by the Finance Manager to buy a Platinum Extended Service Warranty. Platinum!…sounds fancy and full of coverage, isn’t it? It cost me $600 for 6-year coverage (or 75,000 miles). During the first 4 years, none of services I needed qualified for the extended warranty. For example, brake work is excluded…Tires? Forget about it. I called Toyota dealer asking about why brakes and tires are not covered and I was transferred to a Service Adviser…sounds a fancy job titles isn’t it? one of the ways Toyota is trying to look like they care about the customer. Anyway, here is the sad part… Mr. Service Adviser told me you should not have bought an extended service warranty on a new car because a lot of the stuff in it is covered under regular new car warranty. He continued saying you should buy it only beyond the first 3 years that’s when you might need it. At that moment, I felt stupid because they got me to buy the warranty and now they are saying…got you! Keep the money in your pocket and fix as you go…and please think twice before buying a Toyota…Check my other complaint about 2002 Camry engine problem…
