I purchased this vehicle 2 1/2 months ago. Was told that I should purchase a mat for the drivers side with a 1" rise so in the winter the snow doesn't accumulate and rust the gas tank release again, and have to be replaced for a second time. However I am finding out that this is a summer problem also. twice in the past couple of weeks I have had to lap up a top of water from the drivers side floor. I was thinking someone was dumping water there. Frustrated I called Toyota to no avail. Then I called an auto repair place and was so surprised to be speaking to a fellow who had the exact same vehicle with the same problem. He said it is a manufacture flaw and there is nothing I can do about it. What it is, is the molding running along the top down the windshield accumulated water when it rains and when you move the vehicle it all runs inside to the drivers side. I'm afraid of the floor rusting out. You can see that this has been ongoing, because there are 2 screws holding the molding inside the door holding the carpet down. Is there any recourse that I don't know about. Is there anything that I can do to stop this. The mechanic said it wouldn't be a good idea to caulk it. So If I think it is going to rain like today, I put electrical tape all the way down it . I don't think this will help. I would appreciate any advice from you. Thanks, Kathy.
