CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2014 Prius v has yet to receive a complaint from a CarComplaints.com member. That is a rare circumstance for a car with a few years under its timing belt and worthy of our "Seal of Pretty Good" badge.
Are there problems? Of course. But when one of the top NHTSA complaints is a head gasket blowing at 120,000+ miles, you know you're in pretty good shape.

Bought this car from a dealer with 89,000 miles on it. We had it for 2 years. We took great care of this car as it was our main vehicle. We had it maintained regularly and didn't leave any repairs undone. A few months before the gasket blew we had the full service done at the dealership - everything recommended and beyond. We spent a great deal making sure this car was in its best condition. Then the head gasket blew, and every time I started it up the engine would shake. Took it to the dealer, said we need a new engine for $6,000. We took it to a second mechanic (a private company that works exclusively on Priuses) and he said the same thing.
