The issue is a bit long but I’ll try to make it short and easy to understand. My last service was done a few weeks ago when the mileage on the car was 99,042, and after driving for few days of service I realized that the heater of the car had stopped working, I thought well, when I go next for my service I will get this done. But on the 24th of December I received an email from him device which is affixed in my car so if there is an issue I get the notification from the hum company, I received like 15 emails that the coolant alert has triggered on your Prius, please stop immediately and contact the mechanic. Please see the screenshot of that email attached. I have also attached another screenshot of when I did my car inspection for Uber, they recommended me fuel system cleaning and ventilation cleaning service, please see the screenshot attached.
Upon checking today my past service documents with your service centre, those services have never been recommended to me by your service providers as I always service my car from Toyota. I have never taken this car anywhere for service and I solely depend on your service advice. But I am very disappointed because on 99,000 miles the coolant was not checked on my last visit. Now I need to do the entire diagnosis of this car.I keep up with the routine maintenance of and I make sure that the car is in good condition.
I have always thought I am in good hands.
I have added the coolant 2 times, but In about a day or 2 of driving I check the coolant, it reduces. I got the diagnosis done and learned that the catalytic converter has burn out, and upon looking for the converters online I also learned that the converters are not available in the market and in fact from the year 2016 the converter issues in Priuses have been persistent. Toyota in fact been trying to upgrade the part but they have been failing. I have also seen many other Priuses with the same issue while running around to got get my car fixed. The bottom line is that this is a faulty part and Toyota has never disclosed it to anyone or recalled these cars due to this faulty part! Please do not buy Prius after the year 2015. It has a faulty catalytic converter!
