since 3 miles on this car, my mpg has been around 32.9 to 36.8 consistently. the best I got was 42 on a road trip.
It is rated at 44 city and 40 highway. Majority of trips are city. Dealer says wait until around 15,000 miles because of synthetic oil, I know of others with the same car averaging from 42 to 50 mpg. It is not the way I drive. I had a 2005 prius with 45-47 mpg.
Update from Oct 30, 2014: Dealer found no problem.
