My husband and I noticed our 2013 Prius melting in various places on the vehicle. When we initially brought this matter to the attention of the Toyota Dealership back in 2014 they said they have never seen anything like this before. As the melting of the vehicle continued and got a lot worse we took the vehicle back to the dealership in 2016 and they advised us there was nothing they could do for us, as the issue appeared to be due to extreme sun exposure, which is not covered under the vehicle manufacture's warranty. We contacted Toyota Corporate office and they too could not offer any assistance or resolution to our problem. They advised us to contact our insurance company to file a claim if I wanted to get the vehicle repaired. My issue is that the vehicle should not be melting due to sun exposure. We have owned several vehicles and never encountered this issue before. I believe the issue stems from the poor quality material in the construction of these vehicles. If I were to go through my insurance company for repairs, the melting issue would eventually occur again and this could be an endless cycle that we should not have to deal with on a regular basis. Had we known that this was an issue with the Prius we would have never purchased the vehicle. This issue needs to be made known to all potential Toyota Prius customers so they can make an educated informed decision before the purchase of these vehicles. Our overall satisfaction with the Prius has been GREAT, but the melting issue has left us regretting our purchase decision. We will no longer recommend anyone purchase a Prius because we don't want anyone else to experience what we have gone through.
