Toyota has dismissed this issue with the Prius V 2012. In the mornings the car will make a noise from the back wheels on and off. The noise started about 20,000 miles in the car but every time we will take it to the dealer they could not reproduce the noise and never found anything wrong with the car. Now the car has around 40,000 miles and the noise is more consistent and getting louder.
This time we researched in the internet to see if people were having the same problem. We found out it is very common. We went back to Toyota dealer, which they try to do the same thing they have been doing so far "we don't find the problem.. there is nothing wrong. The brakes look fine.." But this time we left the car overnight, after talking to several mechanics, one of them said, "yes there is an issue, I know what it is and we can fixed it", but it is not cover by the warranty. They need to change the rotors and the calipers. We have extended warranty which does not cover the rotor!!!
This issue should be a RECALL from TOYOTA and we should not be force to pay for a problem with their design. This is just unacceptable.
