Recalled for software update. Mileage was 41 mpg. Now it is 35 mpg. During the next 100,000 miles, I will pay about $16,000 for additional gas.

Since my car started using an excessive amount of oil, it doesn't get as good gas mileage as it used to. When I first got the car I was getting 53 miles per gallon. It has steadily been decreasing since it uses so much oil. Now I barely get 35!!! What the CRAP!!! That's the main reason I bought the Prius in the first place. I drive 100 miles per day to work & back. I'm really getting tired of all the problems!! I think I'm getting a Nissan next time!

I have had this vehicle for 3 years now. I travel between CO and TX. I put new all season tires on this last spring and suddenly the gas mileage dropped from about 44 mpg to 38 mpg. The year before I had bought snow tires and the mileage had only dropped from 45 mpg to 43 mpg. I have talked to the dealer and they say there is no reason other than the car is getting older and the tires.

I only have 30,000 miles on the car and it is only 3 years old. The estimate mpg when I bought the vehicle was supposed to be 50 mpg. I understand that there can be differences due to the way the vehicle is driven, but I do not understand why the mileage is dropping when I am really the only driver and I do not think this is an "older" vehicle.
