In 2018 Toyota issued a recall for a software update for the Hybrid system. I asked for it to be addressed on 2 different occasions. I was told the first time in October 2018 that my engine light wasn't on, so it was fine. I was then told at the end of October 2019 that I needed a new engine. On Wednesday of this week, the Hybrid System crashed and it was reported on the dash screen. This morning I went to Toyota and threatened to call the Toyota Distributor and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration if the Hybrid system wasn't updated. I also informed them they could replace the inverter at their cost if it failed. Their response is I need a new engine due to excess oil consumption and the engine burning antifreeze. I have no idea if they are lying to me. I assume so after the service manager lied to me previously about the engine light needing to be on and refused to repair the recall twice. Today he was confused about there even being a recall and it is the 3rd recall put out by Toyota for the same problem.
